Synagogues Gather in Atlanta for JASA Cohort IV Finalist Conference
Synagogues from cities across North America gathered in Atlanta from August 26–28, 2025 for the Jewish After School Accelerator (JASA) Cohort IV Finalist Conference. The three-day, hands-on experience was designed to inspire, inform, and connect participants as they explored what it takes to bring Jewish after-school programs to life in their own communities through the JASA program.
Building the Foundation for Success
Through workshops and sessions led by JASA staff and coaches, finalists gained clarity on the initial steps to move their vision forward, including:
Building board and community support
Assessing feasibility and community interest
Preparing for staffing and organizational changes
Navigating licensing and compliance requirements
Raising matching funds
Learning by Experiencing Jewish After School in Action
Finalists spent time visiting JKG program sites, observing teachers, and experiencing the joy and energy of kids learning together. These visits provided participants with a firsthand look at the impact that a high-quality Jewish after-school program can have, both for children and for families balancing busy modern lives.
Connection and Collaboration
Equally valuable was the chance to connect with peers. The conference provided an opportunity for synagogue leaders to share ideas, ask questions, and foster relationships with other Jewish professionals who share their passion for the future of Jewish education.
What Comes Next
Now back in their home communities, the finalists will complete the next steps in the process to qualify for cohort selection.
In December, JKG will select eight synagogues to comprise Cohort IV of the Jewish After School Accelerator.
Stay tuned for the announcement!
